Quote for your day: Either you run the day or the day runs you. -Jim Rohn
I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is to try to please everyone. -Bill Cosby
It’s a wonderful truth I’ve discovered: in my writing, I cannot (and will not) please everyone. Not every reader will take a shine to my style, voice, and words.
I’m OK with that. After seven books, I’ve become very comfortable with what my readers like and expect.
This is not a license to be lax or lazy in my writing. I’m committed to growing in the craft of writing, learning, and expanding.
It’s a realization that I have a calling and must be the best and authentic writer I can be.
Uncle Bill’s New Art Show
One of my heroes, Bill Iles, has an exciting art show opening in New Orleans this week.
You can view his current landscape paintings for the exhibit at www.coleprattgallery.com
The official opening and reception is this Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Cole Pratt Gallery on Magazine St.
Take an online tour on the website above. What’s your favorite?
Mine is “Kisatchie Camp Road.”
Much of the encouragement in my writing career has come from family. Uncle Bill (my dad’s younger brother) has always seen the best in me and made me believe I could follow my dreams.
