Gratitude and a live chicken

A Chicken in Hand:

Thoughts on Pure Hospitality: through my world travels, I learned that accepting a gift with dignity and gratitude was so essential in most World cultures.

That’s how I (temporarily) became the owner of dozens of live gifted chickens.

These gifts humbled me beyond words. The gift of a chicken from a family that seldom eats meat was a sacrificial gift: it cost them something.

As I took my gifted chicken by the legs, I realized I was standing in the presence of a man or woman with a pure heart of generosity and hospitality.

Just thinking about it humbles me.

Just thinking about it makes me wish to be more generous
