Thoughts on Priorities

Built first fire of Fall at The Old House today. Sure miss my writing and fireplace partner Ivory. This photo was taken o 12.28.09 her last day of life. A few hours later I took her to the vet. It was difficult but correct. I still miss her.

My current word to live by is actually two words:  the I-words:   Influence and Impact.   I want my life to influence the world in a wide ripple effect of God’s grace.  I want the impact of what I do and who I am to go deep into the lives of others.   This includes my writing, actions, speaking, relationships, and attitudes.

It’s important to pay attention to the things that really matter in our lives.  The “tyranny of the urgency” causes us to be distracted from what’s really important.
In my present journal (#50) I’ve written my spiritual “elevator speech”:*     My life is about things that last.  The only “things” that last are spiritual in nature and always involve people and their needs.
My foundational life verse goes along with this:  “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”   Matthew 6:33

Quote for the day: “Never grow a wishbone, daughter, where your backbone ought to be.” -Clementine Paddleford.

Let My Lifesong Sing to You

DeDe and I run/walk each morning at 5:00 at the school track.  It’s a great way to start the day.

Part of the time I listen to my iPod.  This morning I was blessed by the Casting Crown’s song,  “Lifesong.”

It’s a song that resonates with my heart about my actions, thoughts, words, writing, and life being pleasing to God.

Below are the lyrics to this song.

I’ve also hotlinked a video of the song.   Enjoy!

Let your lifesong sing for Him today.

Empty hands held high
Such small sacrifice
If not joined with my life
I sing in vain tonight

May the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You

Let my lifesong sing to You
Let my lifesong sing to You
I want to sign Your name to the end of this day
Knowing that my heart was true
Let my lifesong sing to You

Lord I give my life
A living sacrifice
To reach a world in need
To be Your hands and feet

So may the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Let my lifesong sing to You
