Mon. Sept. 27 Paying Attention

Notes from Sunday:    “If we have the correct view of Christ, everything else will line up.”  -Garrett Greene   Colossians 1:19

Paying Attention: “Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful

attention to your herds.”  -Proverbs 27:23

It’s important to pay attention to the things that really matter in our lives.  The “tyranny of the urgency” causes us to be distracted from what’s really important.

In my present journal (#50) I’ve written my spiritual “elevator speech”:*     My life is about things that last.  The only “things” that last are spiritual in nature and always involve people and their needs.

My foundational life verse goes along with this:  “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”   Matthew 6:33

My current word to live by is actually two words:  the I-words:   Influence and Impact.   I want my life to influence the world in a wide ripple effect of God’s grace.  I want the impact of what I do and who I am to go deep into the lives of others.   This includes my writing, actions, speaking, relationships, and attitudes.

* An elevator speech can be delivered in fifteen seconds or less.

The "things" that matter aren't things. They're people.
