36 Years and Going Strong
Let me set this straight.
I married way above myself.
Men, don’t laugh. Most of you are in the same category.
The night in 1976 when I get the courage up to ask DeDe Terry out on is a special date.
She said yes.
Sometimes in the Fall of 1978 when I asked her to marry me.
Once again, she said yes.
On that day, thirty-six years earlier, she said yes one more time. Or maybe it was “I do.”
And as they say, the rest is history.
Dee and Curt 2012
Tomorrow is 36 years of official history for DeDe and me.
I’m more thankful than ever for my sweet wife.
As a young man I prayed to meet and marry the right woman. God answered that prayer.
I’m grateful.
Just not grateful enough.
Wedding notes:
We married in DeDe’s parents’ home in Harrisonburg.
The wedding began on Thursday promptly at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Jesse Watkins and John Moore.
It was a quick knot. Notice time on clock behind us. The ceremony is over and it’s just 2:10.
She (DeDe) has weathered the years much better than her spouse. I believe she is prettier than ever and if possible, she is even a better person than the one I married.
I hope I’m a better person, too. If so, it’s due to the Lord putting DeDe in my life.
She avoids the spotlight but her light shines brighter than mine ever will.
Like I said. I’m grateful. Just not grateful enough.
And as they say, “The rest is history.”
Here’s to the next 36.
