Ken Burns said, “I came to realize I’m a historian who brings people and things back from the grave.”
After hearing Burns’ quote, I’m struck that it is my job and calling, too.
I don’t do it with a camera and a documentary.
I use a journal, memories, and imagination.
Yes, I bring them back from the grave

As I think about it, I’ve tried to “Do right by my People.”
To tell their stories.
To bring them back to life.
Not flesh and bones but heart and soul.
